Getting the Red Potatoes Started

Picture
These are organic red potatoes that I bought from the local grocery store. We didn't end up eating them all so I let them start growing.

The next step was to get them to sprout. I cut out the "eyes" that were growing the best and stuck 4 toothpicks  in it. This way I could hang them from the top of a really full glass of water.

Here it is now! Starting to sprout! Will be ready for planting outside soon since the weather has been getting nicer. FYI, a good friend of mind told me to plant these in a deep pot or in an area that you are ok with having red potatoes forever! Haha! I guess they grow pretty well and if you don't harvest them all, you will continue to get potatoes!
