Spring Cleaning ClutterSpring cleaning is the best time to have your home organized. Spring cleaning is also a great time for removing the clutter from your home. Go around room by room and get rid of the clutter. Items that you do wish to keep but don’t have a "home" for yet, should go in a separate box with other things which you need to make space for. This way you end up with pre-sorted boxes of things which you will still need to deal with, but will be that much easier when the time comes to find those things a “home”. Clear those items which are heaped down the length of the hall, leaving only a precarious line along which to walk. Separate the piles of papers spilled on every surface. Items like the shoe rack, key racks, and ceramic pots are very commonly seen near the front door. Tidy this area up and keep a clear path to the front door. Start in the bedroom area of your home and work from there. Take down the drapes to be washed and start wiping down the blinds that may have collected dust through the course of time. Make sure that you clean the windows and make sure that these are sparkling clean. After vacuuming all the dust into oblivion, it’s time to wipe, clean and polish all the furniture, shelves and picture frames as well. If these rooms are carpeted, you may want to consider a good carpet cleaning. Remember your rules for getting rid of clutter for bedrooms and bathrooms. To start spring cleaning in the kitchen you can start by cleaning and organizing the contents of your refrigerator. The easiest way to do this is to empty it completely, you’ll be amazed at what you may find in there. Clean the microwave oven, toaster, and the stove. The next step to spring cleaning is to check the cabinets and see to it that these are well cleaned. Reline the cupboards and check for any problems as to the hinges of the cabinet doors. Always keep your mind on the clutter and get rid of any that may have accumulated since the last declutter session or spring cleaning session. Of course, spring cleaning will not be complete unless you also tackle the mess outside your home. Start cleaning your patio down to the pathway. Sweep the unwanted mess then work your way to the garden (spring gardening would be another story entirely). Springtime is a fantastic time for a yard/garage sale to get rid of all that clutter. Think of all the money you’ll make so that you can buy all your flowers and shrubs for the garden! Bonus! If you need some motivation while doing your spring cleaning, grab your iPod or any MP3 player and put on some good, upbeat music! After all, spring cleaning does not have to be a dull chore, right? The main thing about decluttering your home is to learn how to file, organize, and prioritize. File those items that are still of good use. Organize them, and learn which items are important and which ones have to be discarded. This way, you can turn your home into a neat, organized paradise once and for all! Decluttering your home means decluttering your life as well. Remove stress by getting rid of a messy environment. Enjoy spring cleaning and benefit from the results! |
