Garage OrganizersIt’s that time of year to clean the clutter from your garage so you’ll be able to park the car in the garage again. Wait! It doesn’t need to be that way. There is something you can do to keep the things in your garage organized, neat and attractive 24 hours a day, everyday of the year. Before we begin to organize the things stored in the garage, let’s first determine how many cars the garage was built for. You’ll be surprised how much space we’ll open up after installing shelves and space saving racks and brackets. To start, go through all the clutter and individual items. All gardening supplies and equipment should go together; your power tools, hardware and unfinished hobbies should be arranged together and other items such as patio chairs, folding tables, toys etc. should go into their own piles depending on how many items there are. A very nice and attractive way to arrange things is by using garage organizers. A garage organizer system should be easy to install, quick to use, versatile and adaptable for many things, and expandable to store new items that you accumulate. To free up clutter from the floor we need to go vertical. Leaving them on the floor won’t leave any free space, or if it does, it’s not the most efficient, systematic and organized way to arrange your garage contents. By vertical, we mean we’re going to use the wall for shelves, racks and hooks to hang things. We’ll also be using the ceiling to mount shelves with a ceiling mounting shelf kit. When choosing a wall mounted shelf, choose railings or racks that enable you to adjust the shelves to accommodate many and different sizes of boxes, bags, containers, etc, that you will be putting on them. Also make sure that these are made of heavy duty materials capable of loads of 400 pounds or more. You can also use a variety of shelf cabinets. It is not advisable to have glass doors due to the nature of the items being stored. This cabinet is raised and installed against the wall, freeing valuable floor space. You can place storage cabinets in corners or along the length of the walls In between the wall mounted shelves you can also install wheelbarrow brackets, bicycle racks, and heavy duty utility racks and hooks. Recommended load for each hook is at least 100 pounds. In addition to hang wall mounted shelves and brackets, you can utilize the ceiling for installing ceiling hoists. The shelves that hang from them can conveniently slide to different positions and configurations. Recommended load capacity should be around 250 pounds. It is advisable that lighter things be loaded up on them in case of accidents. The hanging shelves in your garage should be movable horizontally but the connecting brackets or rods should also be adjustable vertically. This is to enable taller and bulky containers to fit between selves. You can also purchase plastic or canvas covers for things that you will be storing for a long time. There are also ceiling mounted shelves for small items and a ceiling mounted hoist system with bike racks that you can hang in your garage. The height of the shelves is of course adjustable. If some of your tools like spades, crossbars, and rakes are too big for shelves you can hang them in individual hooks or tool organizers with individually spring operated locks to keep them safe and secure. Look around now and see that you can actually park your car in its designated area. |
